WHY?

I chose to explore the evolution of the meet-cute from the 2000s to contemporary cinema because it is one of my favourite moments in any romantic comedy. The meet-cute is often a key scene that sets up the entire relationship, and when done well, it can feel magical, memorable, and full of possibility. While watching more recent films and Netflix series, I noticed that these moments often felt different from the ones I remembered growing up. They seemed less magical and more grounded, which made me curious about why this change had occurred. Through this research, I explored how shifts in the film insdustry, dating culture, and audience expectations have influenced the way romantic relationships are introduced on screen.
